About the WISDOM Centre

The Wisdom Centre has been providing education and training to health care professionals since 1997. We provide high quality online courses tailored to the needs of the medical professions. Through this web site, health professionals can study the generic skills needed for their professional development and training. In addition, the Centre provides clinical governance resources and a library of useful Internet links, all of which are free to view.

To support medical training, the WISDOM Centre offers these courses:

• Clinical Governance and Risk Management
• Basic and Advanced Informatics
• Research Methods (from October 2010)

We have a contract with the Yorkshire and Humber NHS Postgraduate Deanery. If you are a specialist registrar in this region, contact the postgraduate Dean about taking the Clinical Governance course. If you work in another region, your Dean may be able to fund you to take a WISDOM course. Alternatively, the course can be studied privately for a fraction of the cost of a comparable face-to-face course.

WISDOM is directed by Professor Nick Fox, of the University of Sheffield. Until recently, Nick was director of teaching in the School of Health and Related Research (ScHARR).
